Six Flags

We took our mandatory spring break trip to Six Flags with TJ and Tori. Taylor was on a mission trip in Guatemala. The weather was great, and the lines were really short. It had rained enough to close the park the previous 2 days, so we were really surprised.

Is it just me, or is Tori really excited in this picture with Scooby Doo?

Swimming with the fishes

Ok. I know they aren’t fishes. I wasn’t really that pumped up about our swim with the dolphins thing going into it. The girls were pretty excited though, so I was looking forward to it on that level. Having done it now, I have to admit it was pretty cool. I don’t know that I ever need to do it again, but for a one time thing it was incredible.

Wonderful Praise

Tori has had a problem with occasional UTIs and reflux from the bladder to the kidneys ever since she was around 2. On top of the discomfort of the infections she has had to have a test periodically called a VCUG which is pretty painful. Well today we went for the test, and it went badly as usual. We tried to do it a different way with sedation, but it didn’t help and she still ended up nearly hysterical. I’m sure at this point you’re asking yourself, “Okay, when does the praise start?” Well…

Both the radiologist and the urologist said they saw no signs of reflux AT ALL. Reflux from the bladder can be very bad and end up causing permanent damage to the kidneys, so as you would expect, we are EXTACTIC about the news. We definitely feel God has answered our prayers. She still has to be more careful than other kids about going to the bathroom frequently to avoid a problem with bacteria, but the reflux being gone is HUGE!

Star of the Week

Today at the Friday Live assembly, Tori was honored as Star of the Week for the core value of Honesty. It has always been interesting to me that the school uses the same core value materials we use at church. It’s cool for Tori because whenever they play the virtue song at school, she already knows it and gets to sing along. Kids always ask her how she knows the song and she gets to tell them about her church.

Mini slump dumped

Tori shook off some early season jitters and got back in the groove with the bat on Monday night. She fought off a couple of tough pitches on her way to a 3 for 3 night.
